Little League World Series 2014: Coach Gives Outstanding Speech After Loss
Getting to Williamsport to play in the Little League World Series is an honor many youth baseball players dream about, but not many get in their lifetime. Rhode Island head coach David Belisle is well aware of that and wanted to be sure his players knew it, too.
On the heels of a heartbreaking loss to Illinois and getting eliminated from the tournament, players were on the verge of tears and probably wanted to get off the field as soon as possible. Instead, Belisle sat them all down and gave an incredibly inspirational speech that will make everyone get a little emotional:
And they said there’s no crying in baseball.
If you told me you weren’t on the verge of tears at any point in this video, I’d be convinced you were lying.
While the kids were upset about losing and their championship run getting cut short, coach took all the positives out of this experience and helped them remember all the good things they accomplished and learned along the way.
It’s videos like these that convince us baseball and all types of sports are a metaphor for life.
You have to love coach’s patented New England accent, as well. Adds a nice flavor to what he said.
