JaMarcus Russell Relives His College Days in Latest Dish Network Commercial
Dish Network has been capitalizing on NFL busts making fun of themselves, which in turn has made some hilarious commercials. First, it was Matt Leinart, Heath Shuler and Brian Bosworth doing everything possible to go back to their glory days of college. Former top overall pick JaMarcus Russell was added to this group in their latest advertisement, and it was just as funny.
Who knew Leinart compared having glory back in his grasp to holding a sausage?
Russell fits right in with this trio pretty easily. Of the four former NFL players, the former quarterback was drafted the highest, selected by the Oakland Raiders first overall in the 2007 draft. In his three years as the starting QB at LSU, his last season is what propelled him to the top of the draft board.
Russell completed 67.8 percent of his passes for 3,129 yards with 28 touchdowns against eight interceptions. That performance helped the Tigers post an 11-2 record while also embarrassing Notre Dame during the Sugar Bowl. His stellar play in the SEC didn’t translate into the NFL, as we all know.
The last time the signal-caller was on an active roster happened in 2009. He posted a 2-7 record with a 48.8 completion percentage, 1,287 yards with three touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
He actually slimmed down from over 300 pounds to his combine weight of 265 last summer with the hope of catching on with another team in the league, but it didn’t work out. Now, he’s just stuck daydreaming about his college days with his newest friends.
