2014 DFBC Finalist: Daily Fantasy Only for Drafting101

Drafting101’s first-ever taste of fantasy sports was in the daily format… and he has no regrets about never giving season-long a shot. Why should he, when daily fantasy’s just handed him a one-in-seventy shot at $1,000,000?

How long have you been playing fantasy sports/baseball?

I signed up with FanDuel in November 2012 and concentrated on football at that time. This is the first year I dove into baseball. This is my first real season of MLB.

In your opinion, how does daily fantasy compare to season-long?

I couldn’t tell you because I have never played season-long. I don’t have the attention span for that.

How would you describe your overall approach to drafting?

Typically, I like to take a look at the games, the pitching matchups, and find the two lineups that will be the most successful – in other words, the two teams who are facing the weakest pitchers. Then I will try to find a pitcher who I feel has good value – usually mid-range in price, but will get the “W.” Most pros will take the most expensive pitchers out there, but I do my best usually when I fade them.

Describe the night of your DFBC Qualifier win.

It was Thursday night and the contest had a 98-man field. I had two teams entered and the one I won with had Corey Kluber on the mound. My other team did pretty well for most of the night – for a while I actually occupied both first and second place.

What are you looking forward to the most about Vegas?

I’m looking forward to the experience of it – to be involved with all the pros and be around. My brother-in-law endzonedance23 also qualified so I’m excited to go out there with him. Having a million dollars on the line – won’t be able to duplicate that.

What would you do with the $1,000,000 if you did win?

Invest most of it, but I love NFL so I would use it to go into the daily fantasy football season pretty hard.
