Most daily fantasy players find their way here after a long career in season-long. It’s not very often that you see a player like sdloc, who had never played a season-long league in his life before picking up daily fantasy at FanDuel. His lack of season-long experience certainly didn’t hurt him the night of his DFBC Qualifier win.

How long have you been playing fantasy sports/baseball?

Not very long at all. Baseball in particular is very new to me. A friend of mine who is into daily fantasy pulled me into it.

In your opinion, how does daily fantasy compare to season-long?

I actually have never played any season-long so I can’t really compare, but daily has been a blast. It’s time-consuming but exciting.

How would you describe your overall approach to drafting?

There are a bunch of basic details to consider, like matchups between teams and pitchers, recent performance, right-handers versus left-handers. I try to pay attention to all the key factors.

Describe the night of your DFBC Qualifier win.

I had to run, my girlfriend was getting annoyed, but my friend suggested we get one more lineup. I had four entries already, but decided to put in that last, fifth one. It ended up taking a magical run straight to the top.

All of it was brand new for me so it was even more exciting. Towards the end, it could’ve gone either way between myself and a couple of other contenders, but I took it down. It was a rad night. Any time you win, it feels good. I think a few of the other players must have been shocked that a new guy like me won.

What are you looking forward to the most about Vegas?

Having a chance to win a million dollars.

What would you do with the $1,000,000 if you did win?

Put it back into my FanDuel account and try to win millions more, haha. I guess I’d try to make some smart investments and buy some property.
