Michael Vick Hits Walk-off Home Run, Takes Scenic Route on Bases
Michael Vick is expected to be an important piece to the New York Jets’ offense once the NFL season kicks off, but he apparently dabbles in slow-pitch softball, as well.
It was all a part of “Mike Vick Weekend,” which was put on by the Team Vick Foundation. The festivities started June 13 with a black tie gala and silent action. The weekend-long event concluded June 15 with the second day of his football minicamp and a celebrity golf tournament. Several NFL stars came out to help, including LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Roddy White.
After the first session of minicamp Saturday, a celebrity softball game was next on the schedule. Vick walked to the plate with the game on the line and a runner on first. He launched a walk-off home run, which understandably excited the crowd a great deal. He took a few steps toward first base while admiring his shot, only to then make an interesting turn in the opposite direction:
Vick doesn’t only start running toward third base, he doesn’t even touch third before making a turn for second. Does that huge hit even count?
Considering his foundation put on the entire weekend of events, I’m sure they let it slide and gave Vick’s team the victory. Either way, this is solid proof he should stick to the gridiron.
