For anyone who doubts that daily fantasy is a skill-based game, lovesbases’s track record exists to prove them wrong. This fantasy veteran has been playing on FanDuel for about a year and, in that time, has racked up an impressive number of wins… as well as two consecutive trips to the DFBC!

How long have you been playing fantasy sports/baseball?

I’ve played season long fantasy sports on and off for about 10 years, but daily fantasy for one year.

In your opinion, how does daily fantasy compare to season-long?

I don’t think there really is a comparison. I find season long very boring, and daily fantasy is lots of fun because you get an opportunity for a new team each day.

How would you describe your overall approach to drafting?

The biggest thing is value. Some of the experts are always talking about contrarian plays or punt plays – I don’t think you need to do either very often. I just try to be relentless in finding value on my roster.

Describe the night of your DFBC Qualifier win.

Wow, what a crazy night. Not until very late did I notice my qualifier team had a chance. I was rooting for my cash game lineup and almost went to sleep early after it wasn’t looking good – And then Brandon Moss hit two late homers. It was wild because the stats provider had some Oakland stats all screwed up for a while. I thought I had lost by .5 pts, but when it all got sorted out I had won. It was crazy.

What are you looking forward to the most about Vegas?

I am looking forward to seeing people I play against every day. Last year I was new, and only knew a couple of people. I’m also looking forward to the multi-day competition aspect of this year’s trip – looking forward to the high roller, the KOTD and the other events as well as the finals.

What would you do with the $1,000,000 if you did win?

I would put some or most of it away to have for the future.
