Meet KnicksFan718. This skilled finalist  won a seat to the DFBBC Finals after just a few short weeks of playing NBA contests on FanDuel. With a stacked lineup that featured an incredible amount of star power, KnicksFan718 saw his dirt-cheap filler players help put him over the edge for the victory. Now he’s on his way to Vegas, and he’ll be repping his favorite team with style.

How long have you been playing on FanDuel?

Since November 2012.

Have you ever won anything like this playing fantasy sports?

No I haven’t. Nothing has even come close to this

What is your approach to picking your team? Why did you go with the roster you had the night of the qualifier?

Initially, I like to base my lineup around star power, but I’ve found more success in picking players based on the time of the game. Picking key players in the early games to get off to a good head start. Then I go with plugging cheap sleepers into the line up. Then, I finish up by chosing one or two solid players in the last game of the night. For the DFBBC Qualifier line up, I of course went with Westbrook and KD, then George Hill, who really had a great game that night. I picked Vucevic because he’s cheap and a very solid center who can score and grab boards. Josh Smith is obviously a beast, and Jason Terry was good for his price, though I had to think long and hard about that. My main man Melo was at the other SF position (he is my favorite player in the NBA… lets go Knicks!!!). Lastly, my man Antawn Jamison! He was the surprise pick that got me the win, no question. I don’t know what he ate before that game but man, he showed up! I thought he had on his old Golden State Warriors jersey from that team a couple years back. Anyway, thats the line up that gave me the win on the 30th. 324 pts… Not bad huh?

How did you react when you realized you had won a seat to Las Vegas?

I was smiling from ear to ear, and I was also in a state of shock and disbelief all at the same time. No doubt it’s the best win of my life ever, as far as competing for something. I even called out of work the next day to just soak it all in. I’ve never been to Vegas, let alone the West Coast, so it’s truly an experience I am looking forward to.

How long have you been playing fantasy hoops?

I’ve been playing just a few months honestly, since beginning of this season. I’m really a fast learner. That’s what my mom told me as a child anyway, haha.

How do you like daily fantasy vs regular fantasy?

Oh its 100 times better. Your skills are really put to the test when it’s daily. It makes things a lot more exciting…for me at least.

What is your favorite thing about playing on

My favorite thing about playing on FanDuel is the adrenaline rush you get at the start of the games for the night. Every night there’s a chance to top everyone else in the tourney and that’s a great feeling. Almost like its’ your own sport and you’re constantly trying to be an expert at it.

What will you do with the $50,000 if you win the DFBBC?

Two things. First I’ll pursue my dream of becoming a small business owner by opening my own online sneaker store. Then I’ll quit my job and go to school for sports broadcasting to become an NBA analyst.
