If you dig around a bit, there are plenty of excellent bargain to be found on FanDuel. I’ve taken a lot of the hard work out of it for you, highlighting several players who are poised to provide great bang for your buck in Wednesday’s games. Whether you’re entered in one of FanDuel’s competitive contests or prepping for a head-to-head battle for cold hard cash, the following players could give you the winning edge.

P – Phil Hughes, NYY ($5,000) – Hughes might not go more than six innings in his first start back, but he’s throwing a 92-94 MPH fastball., This will be his first start for the Yankees since April 14, having missed nearly three months with right shoulder inflammation.

C – Joe Mauer, MIN ($3,100) – He’s 4-5 career with two doubles and a walk off Wade Davis, and he recently raised his batting average 50 points in an eight-game stretch. The Twins are exploring him at 1B as well due to the Justin Morneau neck injury.

1B – Mark Trumbo, LAA ($3,000) – Trumbo is homerless since June 25, but he gets to face Brad Penny (who’s eminently hittable) today against the Tigers.

2B – Dustin Ackley, SEA ($2,700)The rookie missed a couple games over the weekend with bruised ribs but homered and scored two runs last night in his third game back. He’s reached safely in all but one of the 15 games he’s played for the Mariners.

3B – Mike Moustakas, KC ($2,500) – Moustakas’ power numbers have been a little weak (.329 SLG), but there’s every reason to think he’ll start hitting the ball hard as he adjusts to major league pitching.  He’s a patient hitter and still an excellent bargain at just $2.5K.

SS – Eliot Johnson, TB ($2,500) – Johnson’s hits usually come in bunches, so he’s a decent risk-reward play, averaging 1.4 FanDuel points per contest (tops in the under $2,700 group).

LF –Eric Thames, TOR ($2,900) – The rookie is batting .321/.368/.543 in 23 games for the Blue Jays, and he’s been rocking the second slot in the lineup as the right field starter. Recently, he went back-to-back with Jose Bautista and has shown some solid gap power.

CF – Rick Ankiel, WAS ($2,900) – With Mike Morse nursing an injury, Ankiel could get more work in the crowded Washington outfield today. He’s hit safely in six straight games since returning on July 1 and has plenty of upside.
