Tuesday Player Matchups: Jair Is On Fire!

Jun 14 3:43am

Jair Jurrjens: He is 8-2 with a 1.82 ERA. That’s, how do you say, good? And he is also only 7,500 Fan Duel dollars! He’s pitching at home where he has won all his starts and has a 1.50 ERA.  I’m starting him in the MLB Line Drive.

Bud Norris: Norris had a no hitter going through 7 innings against the Cardinals last outing and is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA in his last 4 starts. He gets the Pirates who aren’t the best team in the league.

Victor Martinez: Brian McCann and VMart are the best hitting catchers going and he is averaging 3 Fan Duel points a game in his last 15.  He is 4 for 8 off Justin Masterson so feel good about spending the cash on him.

Austin Jackson: He is 14 for his last 35 with 3 doubles and 2 triples and 6 RBIs. He’s hit Masterson 4 of 9 times with 3 walks.

Asdrubal Cabrera: Verlander owns him in 27 at bats he has struck him out 10 K’s and only 5 singles.

Michael Brantley: He is 9 for his last 28 and amazingly 7 for 13 against Justin Verlander.

Mark Reynolds: The K machine is finally making some contact and is 6 for his last 18 with 3 homers. He is also 2 for 5 with a homer against Carlos Villanueva.

Evan Longoria: He’s been hitting well again, going 5 for his last 13 with a homer. Plus he is 6 for 13 against Tim Wakefield with a homer and 6 RBIs.

David Ortiz: He’s 16 for 40 in June with 5 homers and faces James Shields who has hit well in his career, batting .364 with 3 homers and 11 RBIs.

Kevin Youkilis: Youk hasn’t been playing that well of late, but his career against Shields is so horrid I thought I would share. He is 3 for 31 (.097) with 10 K’s. That ain’t good.

Adrian Gonzalez: AGon is 8 for his last 22 with a homer and a whopping 10 RBIs and is 2 for 3 against Shields with a home run.

Dustin Pedroia: So Shields has some trouble against the Red Sox, including Pedroia who he has allowed 13 hits in 30 at bats and 2 home runs. DP is also 9 for his last 19.

Paul Konerko: Paulie is 11 for his last 28 with 4 home runs! That’s enough to cause Hawk Harrelson to sound even stupider than usual. He is also 11 for 29 with 3 homers against Carl Pavano.

Carlos Quentin: He has been playing well lately, but is 0 for 13 off Carl Pavano in his career.

Ryan Howard: RyHo owns Chris Volstad hitting 11 for 23 against him with a whopping 6 homers.

Chipper Jones: He is 8 for his last 23 and hits Jonathon Niese 4 out of 8 times with a homer.

Brian McCann: He is 0 for 6 against Niese with 3 K’s.

Angel Pagan: The oxymoron is 2 for for his last 27 against Jair Jurrjens.

Prince Fielder: Fielder has been on a crazy veggie burger fueled tear hitting 10 for his last 22 with 6 homers and has hit Randy Wells 6 out of 15 times with a homer.

Hunter Pence: Pence continues to hit well and is 11 for his last 23 with a homer and he is 5 for 10 off Jeff Karstens with a donkaroo.

Troy Tulowitzki: He is 5 for 5 against Dustin Mosely with a home run.  That’s an average of 1.000 if you were wondering. He is also 12 for his last 30 with 2 homers. All these numbers are good for Tulo.

Matt Kemp: Kemp, like I mentioned yesterday, is hitting like a possessed Ted Williams and he also hits Johnny Cueto 5 for 9 with 2 homers.

Besides, Chet has written for the N.Y. Times: Fifth Down Blog, and his own sites Razzball and Third Coast Sports. He is extremely/obsessively active on Twitter and will answer your questions as best he can if you throw them @ChetRazzball.
