Here are some stats that might help you choose pitching matchups. These team offenses have been pretty horrid so far.

Team OBPs (On Base Percentage)

30. Minnesota .294

29. San Diego .297

28. Washington .299

27. Seattle .302

26. Oakland .303

Strikeouts Per Game

1. San Diego 8.24

2. Washington 8.14

3. Pittsburgh 8.02

4. Houston 7.76

5. Atlanta 7.39

Runs Per Game

30. San Diego 3.42

29. Minnesota 3.42

28. San Francisco 3.54

27. Pittsburgh 3.65

26. Seattle 3.59

Shaun Marcum: Marcum faces the low scoring Giants and he hasn’t lost an outing since opening day. He also has 6 games where he has given up a run or less. He’s only faced the Giants once in his career and had a no decision. Even though he is 6-1 and has a sub 3.00 ERA he still is reasonably priced at 7,600. I also like Roy Oswalt, Tommy Hanson and David Price, but I like Marcum’s matchup the best and I’m starting him in the Friday MLB MVP. You can’t stop me!

Victor Martinez: VMart is 6 for 15 off the knuckly Tim Wakefield with a homerun. He’s also hitting .339 for May with 2 homers, 7 doubles and 16 RBIs.

Matt Joyce: Joyce is still hitting like a crazed Willie Mays. He is 29 for 69 in May which is a .420 average. I’ve heard that is ok.  During this stretch he also has 6 homers and 17 RBIs.  Today he faces Josh Tomlin who he is 2 for 3 against with a home run.

Andrew McCutchen: Andy is 3 for 5 off Doug Davis with a home run and Doug Davis has been abysmal in his 2 starts with the Cubs going 0-2 with a 8.31.

Jose Tabata: JT has come on as of late going 8 for his last 19 with 6 runs. He is also 2 for 2 off Davis.

Michael Morse: Morse is batting .395 for May with 4 home runs with 3 of those coming in his last 21 at bats. He faces Clayton Richard who he is 2 for 3 against with 2 RBIs.

Ian Desmond: Desmond has hit Clayton Richard only thrice in his lifetime, but 2 of those have gone for home runs.
