I’m going to start Cole Hamels in the Friday MLB Hit and Run. Hole Camels is 2-1 in Petco with a 1.57 ERA. Add to that the Padres are just not very adept at hitting the ball and you have the makings of a nice start.
1B Albert Pujols: I hear good things about this young slugger. I’m going to go out on a limb and say he will make it in this league. Plus he hits Edinson Volquez with a nice 2.065 OPS! The odds on him hitting one out in the first inning are about 1:9.
2B Robinson Cano: He is 3 for 8 against Brad Bergeson.
2B Ian Kinsler: He’s just 1 for 2 off Jeff Francis, but I like him in Arlington.
3B Pedro Alvarez: Livan Hernandez isn’t all that good and he’s hit 1 of 2 off him with a 2 run double.
LF Jose Tabata: He also gets to face Livan who he is 3 for 6 against.
LF Seth Smith: I like matchups where the batter’s average is .800. That means he’s had at least 5 at bats against the pitcher, and that’s what Smith is batting against Anibal Sanchez.
CF Colby Rasmus: When you hit in front of Albert Pujols good things are bound to happen. The Cheese is 2 for 4 off Volquez.
CF Chris Young: He’s hit Mike Pelfrey well, going 6 for 15 on his career.
RF Jason Kubel: Kubes has a long history against Fausto Carmona and has hit 13 of 36 with 3 donkey kongs off him.
