Phil Hoskins
DT / Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs re-signed Hoskins on Friday, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports.
What it means:
Hoskins, who previously joined Kansas City's practice squad back in January, is currently in line to remain with the team for at least one more season following Friday's agreement. The 26-year-old has spent his first two years in the NFL as a depth option for Carolina's defensive line.
Byron Cowart
DT / Kansas City Chiefs
Cowart signed a contract with the Chiefs on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
What it means:
Cowart is now slated to join the reigning Super Bowl champs this upcoming season following Friday's agreement. The 26-year-old spent this previous campaign operating as both a rotational defensive lineman and as a special-teams contributor as a member of the Colts.
Blake Bell
TE / Kansas City Chiefs
Bell and the Chiefs agreed to a one-year contract Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
What it means:
Bell will return to Kansas City for a fourth straight season with the team in 2023. As a backup option behind Travis Kelce at tight end, Bell appeared in three games in 2022, reeling in two catches for 20 yards and a score. With the departures of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman at wide receiver this offseason, it's possible that Bell could be asked to step into a larger role next season.
Derrick Nnadi
DT / Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs agreed to re-sign Nnadi on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
What it means:
Nnadi started all 20 games for the Super Bowl champions last year and will return for a sixth season in Kansas City. The 2018 third-round pick has missed just one regular-season game across his first five NFL campaigns, totaling 193 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble.
Mike Edwards
S / Kansas City Chiefs
Edwards signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
What it means:
Edwards is coming off of the best season of his career, where he set a new high in tackles with 82 (52 solo). The 2019 third-round pick should be in line to start at safety alongside Justin Reid, and he will look to help improve the defending Super Bowl champions' secondary.
Drue Tranquill
LB / Kansas City Chiefs
Tranquill is expected to sign a one-year, $5 million deal with the Chiefs on Friday, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports.
What it means:
Per Shultz, Tranquill had a long list of suitors but decided to join the reigning Super Bowl champions on a team-friendly deal. The 2019 fourth-round pick supplanted Kenneth Murray for a starting spot with the Chargers last year and posted career highs in tackles (144) and sacks (five). It'll be hard to match that type of production playing alongside Willie Gay, Nick Bolton and Leo Chenal, but Tranquill should still garner a sizable role in Kansas City's linebacker corps.
