Zay Jones (knee) unlikely to play for Jaguars in Week 4
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) is a "long shot" to play in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday morning in London, per head coach Doug Pederson.
Pederson described Jones as day-to-day, but the receiver is headed for a second straight absence. Evan Engram drew a team-high 8 targets with Jones sidelined last week, followed by Calvin Ridley (7), Christian Kirk (6), Jamal Agnew (5), and Travis Etienne (5). Trevor Lawrence will likely spread it around again in London if Jones remains out.
The Falcons’ pass defense ranks 20th based on numberFire’s opponent-adjusted NEP model and their run defense is 5th, so the Jaguars will want to rely more on their passing game Sunday morning. Jones commanded a 24.0% target share in each of the first two games, despite injuring his knee and playing reduced snaps in Week 2.

Jaguars rule out Zay Jones (knee) in Week 3
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) will not play in Week 3's game against the Houston Texans.
Jones will sit out in Week 3 after he was forced to miss all three of Jacksonville's practices with a knee injury. Expect Christian Kirk to see an increased target share versus a Houston defense allowing 31.8 FanDuel point per game to wideouts.
Kirk's current Week 3 projection includes 5.5 receptions for 68.6 yards on 8.2 targets.

Jaguars' Zay Jones (knee) DNP again on Thursday
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) did not practice on Thursday ahead of Week 3's game against the Houston Texans.
Jones remained absent from practice on Thursday and is now at risk of missing Sunday's clash with Houston. A return to a limited practice on Friday would be a good sign. Tomorrow's practice report will provide more information.
The Jaguars are 8.5-point favorites over Houston in Week 3. Their implied team total of 26.50 points is the sixth-highest team total on Sunday's main slate, according to numberFire's DFS Heat Map.

Zay Jones (knee) DNP for Jaguars on Wednesday
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) will not practice on Wednesday ahead of Week 3's game against the Houston Texans.
Jones will not practice on Wednesday and is considered day-to-day with a knee injury he suffered in Week 2's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. If Jones returns to a limited practice later in the week, it would leave the door open for him to be active on Sunday. Thursday's practice report will provide more information.
numberFire's models project Jones for 4.1 FanDuel points in Week 3. His salary is $6,000.
Calvin Ridley
WR / Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars' Calvin Ridley injured toe due to cleats
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley suffered a minor toe injury due to the cleats he was wearing.
Ridley was limited at practice, but he switched cleats and is expected to be fine. Prior to the toe issue, Ridley was lighting up practice and earning rave reviews from his new teammates and coaches. The 2018 first-round pick hasn't played since Week 6 of 2022 because he violated the NFL's gambling policy, but if there isn't any rust, he has the talent to emerge as Trevor Lawrence's favorite target in the Jaguars' offense.
Ridley is the WR19 in numberFire's preseason rankings. Our models project him for 137.0 targets, 86.8 receptions, 1,082.3 yards, and 7.39 touchdowns. In his last full season while with the Atlanta Falcons, Ridley caught 90 passes for 1,374 yards and 9 scores.
Travis Etienne Jr.

Jaguars' Travis Etienne embracing 'first healthy offseason'
What it means:
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne has reportedly been using his "first healthy offseason" on "fine-tuning [his] skills."
Etienne's rookie season came during the pandemic-shortened offseason and was cut short by a foot injury that required rehabbing into the 2022 offseason, but the talented former first-round pick has been at full health this offseason. He emphasized the work he's done to limit his fumbles for the upcoming season after committing 5 in his first full NFL season. The Jaguars are on the ascent, and Etienne's playmaking has been a huge boon to their once-stagnant rushing attack.
Etienne should be a strong fantasy performer in 2023 and is currently ranked as numberFire's RB12 for fantasy football. Our projections have him carrying the ball 282 times for 1,284 yards and 10 scores, and have him catching 44 passes for 336.8 yards and 2 more touchdowns.
