Lockett caught six of eight targets for 39 yards in Saturday's 41-23 wild-card loss to the 49ers.
What it means:
The veteran wideout was reduced to being a possession option for Geno Smith while DK Metcalf (10-136-2 on 13 targets) did the damage downfield. Lockett reached 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth straight campaign in 2022, finishing with 84 catches for 1,033 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games, and after a fairly seamless transition from Russell Wilson, he should see success next season whether Smith gets re-signed or Seattle looks elsewhere for a starting quarterback.
Lockett recorded four receptions on seven targets for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-13 overtime win over the Rams.
What it means:
Lockett has battled a number of injuries in recent weeks, though he managed to tally a key 36-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to knot the score at 13. He also helped set up the Seahawks' game-winning field goal with a 17-yard catch in overtime. Lockett found the end in seven of Seattle's last nine games, and he reached at least eight total touchdowns for the fifth consecutive campaign. If Seattle reaches the postseason, he'll likely remain Geno Smith's favorite target.
Lockett (shin) is listed as active Sunday versus the Rams.
What it means:
After sitting out Week 16 due to a broken left index finger, Lockett returned to action last Sunday against the Jets but was in and out of the contest due to a shin injury. The Seahawks held him out of practice Wednesday and Thursday with the same health concern, but his return to drills Friday as a limited participant was followed by coach Pete Carroll telling Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle that Lockett looked good and was slated to play Week 18. With his status now confirmed, Lockett still could operate with some restrictions for a second consecutive game, even though the team must win (with a Packers loss Sunday night) to reach the postseason.
Coach Pete Carroll said Lockett (shin) looked good at Friday's practice and is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Rams, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.
What it means:
Lockett injured his shin in his first game back after missing a week with a broken finger, ultimately seeing only two targets and 31 percent of offensive snaps in the 23-6 win over New York last Sunday. Earlier this week he said he'll play in the must-win game this Sunday, and Carroll is singing the same tune after a successful practice Friday. Cautious fantasy managers may want to stay tuned nonetheless ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, considering Carroll doesn't have the best track record of providing reliable injury information.
Seattle's Tyler Lockett (shin) questionable for Week 18's game against Rams
What it means:
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett (shin) is listed as questionable for Week 18's contest against the Los Angeles Rams.
Lockett's status is currently in question after Seattle's wideout missed two practices with a shin injury. Expect D.K. Metcalf to see more targets versus a Rams' defense allowing 27.9 FanDuel points per game to receivers if Lockett is ruled out.
Lockett's current Week 18 projection includes 4.8 receptions for 57.9 yards on 6.7 targets.
Lockett (shin) returned to practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
What it means:
Lockett returned from finger surgery last week after missing just one game, only to suffer a shin injury that limited his playing time (31 percent snap share) in the win over New York. He said earlier this week that he'll play Sunday, and that does seem to be the most likely outcome even if he isn't at his best. The Seahawks need a win at 4:25 p.m. ET (and a Packers loss in the night game) to make the playoffs.
