Saints place Michael Thomas (knee) on injured reserve, will miss at least 4 games

What it means:

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (knee) has been placed on injured reserve. Thomas will be sidelined at least one month after suffering a knee injury in Week 10. Expect Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry to see more snaps versus an Atlanta Falcons' team ranked tenth in fantasy points allowed per game to wideouts. Shaheed's current Week 12 projection includes 3.3 receptions for 44.4 yards on 5.4 targets while Perry's expectation includes 1.8 receptions for 20.7 yards on 3.0 targets.

Saints' Michael Thomas (knee) expected to miss 'some time'

What it means:

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed Monday that wide receiver Michael Thomas (knee) is expected to miss "some time". Thomas is a potential injured reserve candidate with his mysterious knee injury, but Allen did not comment on whether or not that was a possibility the team was considering. The former All-Pro receiver is expected to miss at least a few weeks with the injury he suffered just before the team's Week 11 bye, opening up an opportunity for rookie receiver A.T. Perry to make an impact. Perry caught a touchdown after Thomas was forced off the field and finished the day with 2 catches for 38 yards and that score. He appeared to be an almost one-for-one replacement for Thomas, reaching a season-high in snaps (84%) while efficient playmaker Rashid Shaheed's role remained stable but part-time.

Saints' Michael Thomas has 'fairly significant' knee injury

What it means:

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas suffered a "fairly significant" knee injury in Sunday's Week 10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, per head coach Dennis Allen. Allen said Thomas' injury isn't season-ending, but the veteran receiver will rehab during the Week 11 bye and receive a second opinion. Sixth-round rookie A.T. Perry appears to be the primary replacement for Thomas after he led the Saints' receivers with 51 snaps on Sunday. Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed also stand to benefit if Thomas misses time after the bye. Thomas was targeted twice Sunday, on the only two snaps he played. He's averaging 7.7 targets per game when he plays at least 70 percent of the snaps this season, but Thomas' playing time and target share started trickling down prior to Sunday's injury. Perry finished with 2 receptions on 4 targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in Week 10.
