Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said Granson (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game against the Texans, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.
What it means:
Granson will close out the season with a third consecutive absence, paving the way for Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox to split the bulk of the reps at tight end. A 2021 fourth-round pick out of SMU, Granson amassed 31 receptions for 302 yards and no touchdowns on 40 targets over 13 appearances during his sophomore season.
Granson (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
What it means:
Granson missed the past two games and isn't likely to be rushed back for a regular-season finale without any playoff implications. Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox have split snaps at tight end with the 2021 fourth-round pick missing the past two games.
Granson (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Giants.
What it means:
Granson will miss a second consecutive game due to this injury, leaving Week 18 against the Texans as his last opportunity to make another appearance this season. Jelani Woods has led the Colts in receiving yards in both of the previous games that Granson sat out, so Woods figures to be the primary beneficiary of another Granson absence.
Granson (ankle) wasn't present for Thursday's practice and will be listed as a non-participant for the session, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
What it means:
Granson hasn't practiced in any capacity since he apparently picked up the ankle injury in the Colts' Week 15 overtime loss to the Vikings. Unless he can reverse the trend and get back on the field in some fashion Friday, he'll likely sit out a second straight game this weekend against the Giants. If Granson is sidelined Sunday, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods would split reps at tight end.
Granson (ankle) is listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
What it means:
The Colts are merely holding a walkthrough two days after losing to the Chargers with Granson (ankle) on the sideline. Jelani Woods and Mo Alie-Cox split the snaps and routes at TE, with Woods getting a few more routes and tying for second on the team with five targets. It's possible the rookie gets more of the workload this Sunday at the Giants, considering he previously had a big game (98 yards) when Granson was out Week 12 against the Steelers. That said, Woods played less than two-thirds of snaps in both the games Granson missed, still sharing work with Alie-Cox.
Granson (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Chargers.
What it means:
Granson was unable to practice at any point during Week 16 prep due to an ankle injury, so the Colts' ruling on his status Saturday comes as no surprise. With the second-year pro sidelined for the second time this season, Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods will handle most of the TE reps for Indianapolis on Monday.
