Jordan Love Status

rotoWire
Love completed 14 of 21 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown over four appearances during the 2022 season.

What it means:

The former first-rounder played sparingly in his third season, with the highlight being his late-game performance in the Packers' Week 12 loss to the Eagles. He could finally get a real chance to show what he can do in 2023 if fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers moves on or retires, but his status will be in limbo until Rodgers' situation is resolved.
rotoWire
Love is slated to serve as Aaron Rodgers' backup in Sunday's game against the Bears after the latter was cleared to start the Week 13 contest, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

What it means:

Rodgers, who has been playing through a broken right thumb since Week 6, picked up another injury in last Sunday's loss to the Eagles, when he suffered a rib contusion. Though Love finished out the contest in place of the banged-up Rodgers, the third-year quarterback won't get the starting assignment Week 13 after Rodgers was able to practice in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday to ditch his injury designation heading into the weekend. The 4-8 Packers haven't ruled out the possibility of shutting Rodgers down once they're officially eliminated from playoff contention, so Love could have the chance to make some starts before season's end.
rotoWire
Love completed six of nine pass attempts for 113 yards and a touchdown after Aaron Rodgers (ribs) was forced to leave Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Eagles.

What it means:

Love stepped in for Rodgers with the Packers down two scores late in the contest and the backup didn't let the offense skip a beat, despite eventually falling short on an improbable comeback attempt. The 2020 first-round pick looked as good as we've ever seen him in limited action, whipping crisp passes to his receivers in stride en route to a near-perfect QB rating in his quarter of action. Initial reports on Rodgers' ribs are unclear, but he was able to avoid a punctured lung after having trouble breathing while being examined postgame. Head coach Matt LaFleur added that he doesn't know if Rodgers will be forced to miss time, but added that if healthy, he will start Sunday against Chicago, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic. If Love does end up starting for the 4-8 Packers, he showed enough of an improvement in a hostile environment Sunday to warrant fantasy consideration against a struggling Bears defense.
rotoWire
Love completed 4-of-5 passes for 65 yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.

What it means:

With just over a minute to go and the Packers trailing by 16 points, Love replaced starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers and handled the final drive of the game. He completed all four passes he got off, with the lone misfire coming on a spiked ball to stop the clock. The efficient outing bodes well for Love's confidence but does nothing to change his status as the backup behind Rodgers.
rotoWire
Love completed 16 of 26 passes for 148 yards and an interception in Thursday's preseason game against Kansas City. He also gained five yards on his only carry.

What it means:

The 23-year-old got the start at quarterback for the Packers and played into the second half, and while Love's numbers weren't great he did did engineer two scoring drives, leading to all 10 of Green Bay's points on the night. The 2020 first-round pick will back up Aaron Rodgers once again this season, a role which afforded him only one start and 62 total pass attempts last year.
rotoWire
Love completed 12 of 24 passes for 113 yards and one touchdown in Friday's 20-10 preseason win over the Saints. He also added 13 rushing yards.

What it means:

Love got the start with Aaron Rodgers resting. He showed glimpses of promise, particularly on a 14-play drive that resulted in a touchdown. During that possession, Love connected with four different receivers and pushed the ball down the field for gains of 17 and 15 yards. On the other hand, he still had long spells of inconsistency, as evidenced by his 50 percent completion rate. Once the regular season rolls around, Love will be locked into the backup role.
