Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs 'expected' to get 'the majority of the work' in Week 3

What it means:

The NFL's Tom Pelissero reports that Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs' "is expected to get the majority of the work" for the team in their Week 3 game against the the Atlanta Falcons. Gibbs could see the first lead back workload of his NFL career today against the Falcons with David Montgomery (thigh bruise) sidelined. The Lions have kept Gibbs to a limited workload in his first few NFL contests (though he has still seen 23 touches in 2 games) but we could see him break out against the Falcons today. Gibbs has moved up to numberFire's RB3 for Week 3, trailing only Christian McCaffrey and Tony Pollard with his 17.2-fantasy-point projection. We have him slated for 69.6 rushing yards, 34.9 receiving yards, and 0.8 total touchdowns in this one.
Lions could limit Jahmyr Gibbs in NFL debut Thursday

What it means:

Detroit Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs could have a limited workload in Week 1 on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, per head coach Dan Campbell. Campbell told reporters the Lions want to be “smart” with Gibbs' usage in his debut because they want the No. 12 overall pick to be healthy for the entire season. David Montgomery should absorb the additional rushing workload if the Lions keep Gibbs on a snap count. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson previously said Gibbs will be used in creative ways, including as a "vertical threat" for Detroit. Gibbs has an $11,000 salary on the single-game slate and numberFire's models project him for 11.5 FanDuel points, with 11.0 carries, 48.3 rushing yards, 3.9 targets, 2.9 receptions, and 22.1 receiving yards. The Chiefs allowed the most receptions and fourth-most receiving yards to opposing running backs last season.
