Grant Calcaterra Status

rotoWire
Calcaterra finished his rookie season with five catches for 81 yards and zero touchdowns.

What it means:

Four of Calcaterra's five catches came when he was elevated for the second tight end role while Dallas Goedert missed time with a shoulder injury. The fact that he still averaged less than a catch per game during those contests means it's difficult to see him having much fantasy relevance next season.
rotoWire
Calcaterra is expected to slide down to third on the depth chart at tight end in Saturday's game at Dallas after Philadelphia reinstated Dallas Goedert (shoulder) from injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN.com reports.

What it means:

After missing the Eagles' last five games, Goedert is expected to step back in as the team's starting tight end, while Jack Stoll handles the No. 2 role. During Goedert's five-game absence, Calcaterra recorded four receptions for 41 yards on eight targets while playing at least 28 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps in each contest. In his other seven appearances this season when Goedert was available, Calcaterra played less than a quarter of the snaps each time while totaling just one reception.
rotoWire
Calcaterra pulled in two of his four targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 48-22 victory over the Giants.

What it means:

It was a busy day by Calcaterra's standards, as he'd only been targeted three times all year heading into the week. He was involved right from the start, catching a 13-yard pass on the Eagles' first play of the game. He got his team into the red zone with an 11-yard catch later on the same drive, but he failed to add to his tally the rest of the way.
rotoWire
Calcaterra lost two yards on his only catch in Sunday's win over Green Bay.

What it means:

Dallas Goedert (shoulder) missed his second consecutive game, but the Eagles have adjusted to his absence by hardly looking to their tight ends at all. In Week 11, it was Jack Stoll who provided the unit's lone target and lone reception, and it was Calcaterra who got that honor in Week 12. Nothing in the Eagles' game plan suggests that any Philadelphia tight end will have fantasy relevance until Goedert returns.
rotoWire
Calcaterra saw the field for just 19 offensive snaps and was not targeted a single time in Sunday's win over Indianapolis.

What it means:

Calcaterra could have been in line for an increased role in the absence of Dallas Goedert (shoulder), as No. 2 tight end Jack Stoll primarily fills a blocking role. While Calcaterra did indeed set a season high in offensive snaps, he remained in nowhere near a fantasy-relevant role.
rotoWire
Calcaterra could benefit from an uptick in snaps with top tight end Dallas Goedert suffering a shoulder injury in Monday's loss to the Commanders that is expected to sideline him for multiple weeks, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

What it means:

Jack Stoll has played 40 percent of the Eagles' snaps on offense this season and has been the clear No. 2 tight end through the team's first nine games, but he's been deployed almost exclusively as a blocker and has recorded just eight receptions through 25 career games. As such, the Eagles could look to the likes of Calcaterra and Tyree Jackson (knee) -- who is on the PUP list but could be activated Week 11 -- to help pick up the slack in the pass-catching department while Goedert and the 5.9 targets per game he's averaged for the season are out of the lineup. While Goedert has generally enjoyed could health this season up until now, Calcaterra hasn't played more than 17 snaps in any game in 2022 and hasn't drawn a target since he recorded a 40-yard reception Week 3.
