DeAndre Carter Status

rotoWire
Carter sustained an ankle injury during Saturday's wild-card contest at Jacksonville.

What it means:

Before his departure in the second quarter, Carter reeled in two of three targets for 17 yards. With Mike Williams (back) inactive Saturday and Jalen Guyton (knee) on injured reserve, Keenan Allen, Joshua Palmer and Michael Bandy are the only healthy wide receivers on the Chargers' active roster.
rotoWire
Fellow wide receiver Mike Williams (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's playoff game against the Jaguars, which could lead to more opportunities for Carter.

What it means:

Carter bumped down to fourth on the Chargers' wide receiver depth chart with everyone healthy down the stretch, but the return man showed he can contribute on offense when injuries struck during the regular season, topping 50 yards on five different occasions. With Williams sidelined, Carter figures to slot in third on the depth chart behind Keenan Allen and Joshua Palmer.
rotoWire
Carter caught three of his five targets for 43 yards and also lost a fumble during the 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.

What it means:

Carter had his most productive performance since Week 13, filling in for Mike Williams who left the game early with a back injury. The 29-year-old finished second on the team in receiving yards behind Keenan Allen but also had a costly fumble in the third quarter.
rotoWire
Carter caught two of his three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 31-10 trouncing of the Rams.

What it means:

The Chargers were in thorough control of the outcome by the third quarter, so it was a little surprising to see Carter not get a bit more opportunities in junk time. He's been one of the more reliable returns in the league this season, as he's tallied at least 20 punt return yards in each of the last six contests.
rotoWire
Carter caught one of his two targets for 15 yards in the 17-14 win over the Titans on Sunday. He also lost 10 yards on his lone carry.

What it means:

Carter has played a combined 28 offensive snaps since the return of both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. At this point, the speedster's value lies solely in leagues which also account for return yardage as Carter tallied a combined 70 yards on kick and punt returns.
rotoWire
Carter did not gain positive yardage with his lone reception in the 23-17 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.

What it means:

The return of Mike Williams (ankle) officially ended any sort of fantasy viability for Carter, who played just 12 offensive snaps after playing at least 40 since Week 2. Expect Carter to make noise simply as the team's returner moving forward.
